Simon Cowell: "Britney Demi doing the best they can"

Photogs caught up with Simon Cowell in Beverly Hills this week and of course asked him about Brit on The X Factor.

He says they are “doing the best they can” as judges, revealing:

“I’ve worked with much harder. Honest to god they are doing the job we paid them to do, and they are doing a great job. They are both, albeit feverish, but we hired them for that. They are trying to find a star, and give constructive advice. They ought to be my mentor”

Simon had nothing but nice things to say about Britney, but confessed Demi is a bit of a “brat.”

“She represents a younger audience and she’s smart, but a bit of a brat. But I like brats. She’s got amazing instincts, this girl. She could work for a record label; she knows how to spot a star. I am really impressed with her. She’s smart, she knows what she’s doing, and she wants to do a good job.”

“They’ve both been child stars. They want to find somebody else, and I’m very impressed with them.”

The Wanted want to clarify their recent drama with the Queen of Pop, who claimed they had to face the wall when she walked by backstage, according to a recent interview with Metro.co.uk.

“We did an interview about when we were supporting Britney and Siva mentioned when the security made him turn away… then everyone said ‘The Wanted are slagging off everyone.’ We’re not! On a first impression basis as a person I would say I dislike Christina Aguilera. When we met Britney she was so friendly. Very innocent. The dude that told Siva to turn around was some pushy security. Nine times out of 10 if people make it that far it is because they are nice and someone wants to help them out. The people around them, it’s their job to be a little dickish – Christina is probably the exception to that. We’re not bitchh-slapping everyone. We’re just honest. We’re not trying to make friends.”

Britney reportedly chose Demi Lovato to be the final judge on X Factor, but maybe it’s because she sees part of her past in the troubled starlet?

A new blind item floating around alludes to Demi Lovato’s troubled life possibly interrupting her multi-million dollar X Factor deal; her team is aware, but the cash is too tempting. Sound familiar?

“Which potential reality show judge is terrified that the truth about her physical and mental health will cost her a job offer? The show’s producers don’t know that the young star has actually been in and out of r*hab three times this year (and it’s four times if you count one interrupted stay where her team pulled her out of one facility and moved her to another). She has a serious cocaine and alcohol addiction and severe emotional issues and is still a fragile mess.
But it’s all about the money. Although she already has enough money to live on for the rest of her life, there’s a multi-million dollar payday at stake here. Demi Lovato is the rumored fourth judge accompanying Brit on X Factor, and it was Brit’s idea!

“Britney is the anchor of the new judging panel and that was Simon’s most important hire,” a source close to the situation tells RadarOnline.com.
“Britney is extremely hopeful that Demi Lovato will become one of the judges because she truly admires her. Britney loves how open and honest Demi has been with her fans after she went to rehab last year. She thinks they have a lot in common and that they would have great chemistry on the show. Britney is being kept apprised of the status of ongoing contract talks with Lovato and it is looking like she will be joining the show! Britney is extremely excited for filming to begin, which will be in the next month.”
“Britney and Demi have met a few times very casually at Hollywood industry parties but those were very brief. Demi went to one of Britney’s concerts in Anaheim in 2011 and met with her backstage. Once Demi officially signs her contract Simon will have the new judging panel over to his house for a celebration dinner. The second season of X Factor is going to be amazing,” the source says.

The Wanted talked about Britney last week. They appeared on Fresh 102.7 In New York on Monday.

"We signed a confidentiality thing that we should never say anything about what happened, but let’s tell it anyway” band member Tom Parker said on air.

Siva Kaneswaran said:

“I was in the hallway with my tour manager. Basically we were looking with a laptop, trying to get wifi…facing the middle of the hallway. [Britney's] bouncers came down with her and told us to face the wall.”

“As Miss Spears is walking through,” elaborated Tom. “We’re like come on!” Siva continued, “We turned around and I faced a wall for about 10 seconds until she got really far away.”

But they don’t want people to think they’re slamming Brit Brit, Jay McGuinness jumped in to clarify.

“But honestly when we actually met her person to person, she was so down to earth. You can tell she’s a total southern girl and Nathan, when he was a kid, won a singing competition. She was one of the judges or something. And she gave him a kiss, it was one of his first kisses as a kid. So he got to meet her again and support her.”

The Wanted admitted they were told to face the wall before Britney walked by backstage on the Femme Fatale tour, but Britney’s reps say otherwise.
