Louis, many additional lawsuits have been filed all over the United States.
The result is well known: there was no warning to consumers; talc continued. In
most cases, even the mere rumour that a product, particularly a product that is
used primarily for children, is associated with cancer is enough to get most
people to stop purchasing it. In the case of baby powder, however, many mothers
may choose to err on the side of safety.Last week, there was more news. They
include not just people who claimed they had developed cancer but also those who
said they developed mesothelioma from airborne asbestos particles, the jagged
particles of which apparently lodged in their lung tissue, leading to the
disease. Since the New York Times story came out last week, the company’s stock
fell further. On its website, the American Cancer Society says that the results
connecting talc to ovarian cancer have been mixed, in that there has not been a
direct and incontrovertible connection between the two. The New York Times
published a front-page story on how executives at the company had apparently
known since 1971 that their product likely contained asbestos.By arrangement
with Dawn."It is difficult to tell whether the exercise in limiting the damage
from lawsuits will be successful.

The plaintiffs in the suit had developed ovarian cancer. In addition to
consumers, who must assess the risks themselves, official agencies entrusted
with ensuring public health must also assess the results of the lawsuits in the
United States and decide whether they too need to issue their own warnings. The
article detailed how studies that showed the presence of asbestos in the powder
were discredited or suppressed. The magnitude of the verdict was supposed to
send a message to the company that this sort of negligence is unacceptable. In
recent years, however, the company has also begun to manufacture an alternative
version of the powder that does not contain talc and contains only
cornstarch.Modern life in America, or anywhere in the world for that matter,
involves constant contact with a barrage of chemicals; the latter are present in
what we eat, in the air we breathe, in the products we use.It is said to be one
of the most recognisable scents in the world — the smell of Johnson &
Johnson baby powder, used first by mothers on their babies, then even later on,
continuing into childhood and adulthood. One defence tactic was to take out a
full-page advertisement in the New York Times, explaining that the science of
the connection between talc and ovarian cancer is far from certain and
enumerating all the health and safety measures that the company had taken to
ensure this. Louis, Missouri, handed out a record $4. Six of the plaintiffs had
already died of ovarian cancer by the time the case came to trial. The websites
and FAQs as well as full-page newspaper advertisements all draw attention to the
fact that the link between ovarian cancer and talc are dubious.

There are also studies that show that there may be a link. All of this may be
about to change.Such steps are taken because a company knows that consumer
confidence and trust determine sales, particularly where products for children
are concerned. Documents that the newspaper obtained under a US law, that allows
the procurement of certain records, showed that executives at the company
discussed and debated the issue internally, tossing around solutions that
included removing talc from their talcum powder. If they have to use baby
powder, maybe they can opt for the version made out of pure cornstarch rather
than take a chance with talc.In addition to individual lawsuits, there are also
class-action lawsuits that seek all plaintiffs who have ovarian cancer and used
the baby powder for long periods of time. Finally, lawyers must also see if
there are any affected people on whose behalf they can sue the company on the
basis of the evidence unearthed by the earlier lawsuits and the New York Times
investigation.

A website titled "Our talc is safe" has also been launched in the hope of
allaying consumer concerns. Last summer, a jury in St. If one looks at the
science, then it is true that there are studies that show no link between talc
from Johnson’s baby powder and ovarian cancer and various lung ailments.Company
executives talked about how the baby powder was the Holy Grail amongst all their
products and changing its ingredients or adding warnings would cause a huge hit
to company profits. The South Asian consumer, like the consumer everywhere else,
must decide whether or not the risks are such that they should stop using
products containing talc reportedly containing harmful ingredients. In South
Asia, the risks are just the same as anywhere else in the world.

It has, over the years, represented just the clean and caring sort of feeling
that the advertisements for the product have proclaimed. The New York Times
advertisement taken out by the company, glibly titled "Science, not
Sensationalism", said: "If we had any reasons to believe our talc was unsafe, it
would be off our shelves. Since the lawsuit in St.69 billion verdict to 22
plaintiffs who alleged that the company had failed to warn consumers that the
talcum powder contains dangerous levels of the cancer-causing chemical
asbestos. Some of the company’s defences are somewhat substantiated. Consumers
lose trust in a product, either by information of a possible connection between
the product and cancer, or revealing company negligence in relation to safety
precautions attached to products. When the jury verdict came in last summer, and
the possible connection was revealed, the company’s stock plummeted 11 per cent.
There is no getting away from chemicals, even if we know that some of them are
carcinogens that can China oil
Seal Suppliers cause one or another type of cancer

Coromandel Agrico, for example, was accused of selling falsely labelled
products. Police are investigating similar cases elsewhere, DuPont said.". Toxic
pesticides that are banned abroad continue, meanwhile, to be sold freely in
India. "There has been a trend of increasing consumption of (fake)products as
against the regular ones," said Manish Panchal of Tata Strategic Management
Group that conducted the study. "It's a double loss when you see the crop
wilting away and your money is spent on pesticides that don't work." Last year
spurious fungicides cut apple production in Jammu & Kashmir state, while
farming lobbyists have linked recent farmer suicides in Odisha to fake
pesticides. "We will not take the risk of selling sub-standard products," Bisht
said." He also said illegal chemicals are imported "under the garb of good
material", and that there was a "definite risk" of some fake pesticides being
exported from India, although there was no evidence yet.

"The problem is at the dealer/distributor level. Tests that found it selling
pesticides in incorrect dosages were inaccurate, said Vipin Bisht, the company's
regulatory affairs officer. That tragedy prompted the Food and Agriculture
Organization (FAO) of the United Nations to advise developing countries to phase
out such chemicals. Punjab has also filed police cases against fake pesticide
makers and arrested a senior official at its agriculture university for allowing
the sale of counterfeits. And they are gaining market share in what is the
world's No. Pesticides can also cause cancer.N. Made secretly and given names
that sometimes resemble the original, counterfeits account for up to 30 percent
of the $4 billion pesticide market, according to a government-endorsed study..
"Now if they turn out to be spurious it's a cause for even greater worry. "We
are illiterate farmers; we seek advice from the vendor and just spray on the
crop," said Harbans Singh, a farmer in Punjab's Bathinda region, whose
three-acre (1.. KNOCK OFFS Karnataka state authorities this month seized large
stocks of "Korajen", an illegal copy of DuPont's Coragen used to kill rice
pests. "Use of excessive pesticides has been a cause for concern for quite some
time," said Shyam Khadka, FAO's India representative. As a result, they overuse
chemicals, reducing their effectiveness and raising costs. Indian officials
tested nearly 50,000 pesticide samples last fiscal year, finding around 3
percent of them "misbranded", Sushil said." But S. Apart from counterfeiting,
India is also grappling with rising cases of unmonitored chemicals passed off as
herbal pesticides, said Srivastava. Sushil, who heads India's top pesticide
testing laboratory in Faridabad, near Delhi, said farmers panic at the first
sight of a pest attack. He added the government was increasing inspections and
looking to increase penalties, including jail terms of up to 10 years. "We know
that a racket is going on," said P. Influential dealers in small towns peddle
high-margin fake products to gullible farmers, in turn hurting established firms
like Syngenta, Bayer CropScience, DuPont, BASF, PI Industries, Rallis India and
Excel Crop Care. it's going to hit food security. Chakrabarty, an assistant
director general of Indian Council of Agricultural Research.

"All stakeholders should be worried . The use of spurious pesticides has
exacerbated losses in the genetically modified (GM) cotton crop in northern
India after an attack by whitefly, a pest, China Rubber Products Manufacturers
say officials. India still permits the use of monocrotophos, a pesticide blamed
for the death of 23 children in Bihar in 2013 after they ate contaminated free
school lunches.

In recent years the European Union and Saudi Arabia temporarily stopped
buying some vegetables from India after finding pesticide residues in produce.
Some producers say they have been wrongly targeted by government laboratories.
TOXIC RACKET Lax laws, which punish by revoking licences or imposing short jail
terms for offenders, and staffing shortages compromise efforts to track and
seize substandard products. Indian officials say such cases result from the
overuse of chemicals.2-hectare) GM cotton crop was damaged by whitefly this
year.Chronic exposure to pesticides can lead to depression and can also cause
cancerMillions of unsuspecting Indian farmers are spraying fake pesticides onto
their fields, contaminating soil, cutting crop yields and putting both food
security and human health at risk in the country of 1. "Theoretically it becomes
a risk, but practically there are checks and balances," said Gantakolla
Srivastava, CEO of CropLife India, an association of the top pesticide companies
operating in the country. "But it is only when suspicion arises that people go
to inspect. If unchecked, some of India's roughly $26 billion in annual farm
exports could be hit. RAPID GROWTH IN FAKES India's fake pesticide industry is
expanding at 20 percent per year while the overall market is growing at 12
percent.

Similar sounding products are made, mixed, sold." Chronic exposure to
pesticides can lead to depression, a factor in suicides, he said.K. India loses
about 4 percent, or over 10 million tonnes, of food output a year due to fake
pesticides, said the government-backed study. Sushil's team worked overtime
after Punjab sent nearly 1,000 samples of suspect pesticides following the
whitefly outbreak, finding some to be falsely labelled.25 billion people

Both drives, the HD710M Pro and HD710A Pro have a USB 3. However, there is a
portion of the market who like the security of having a physical copy of their
data for quick and easy access instead of relying on the cloud which would
require an internet connection to access. While the Windows variant is dressed in
a brown camouflage, the MacOS HD710A Pro variant comes in a minimalistic white
and grey exterior that compliments the Apple colour. HDDtoGo is a companion
software for the external hard drive and it enables you to create a backup from
your PC to the external storage and vice versa. However, you are limited to
transferring of files no larger than 4GB each. Apart from this, having your data
always with you on the go is also crucial for many. For our review, we received
a 2TB Windows-based external HDD that’s been formatted out-of-the-box to FAT32
and an Apple-compatible 1TB MacOS external HDD.The ADATA HD710 hard disks are
robust and being military-grade durable, they can easily survive accidental
drops and having an ingress certification that surpasses IP68, you should not
worry about liquids such as water, juice and the likes falling on it, rendering
it useless. If you do intend to transfer files larger than this, it can be
easily re-formatted to NTFS or HFS+ depending on which OS you intend to use the
drive with.Rating: With most people now using the convenience of the cloud to
store their important data, the reliance on external hard drives is slowly
waning. The two apps that are available are HDDtoGo and OStoGo. This is basically
an alternative solution to install the Windows OS to a PC and laptops without
the need for optical drives.

The drives also come with Shock Sensor technology, so when large shocks or
vibrations are detected during data transfer, a red LED light will warn you and
the devices internal protection mechanisms will be activated to safeguard the
data. The design of the HD710 Pro features an ingress protection of beyond IP68.
The external area of the drive is fitted with a camouflage printed silicone
rubber that is designed to absorb shocks from regular drops and bumps. With the
HD710M Pro being formatted in FAT32, this drive can be used with both Windows as
well as Mac operating systems. The cable comes with a Type-A USB 3.As for the
sheer performance, we ran a few benchmarks here such as CrystalDiskMark, ATTO,
and AmorphousDiskMark, China wholesale auto
rubber with the latter being for Macs. If you want to use the drives for
plain backing up purposes, you are ready to go anyways.(Source).0 connector at
one end while the other end features a flat USB micro-B connector.0 interface
and are available in two configurations, i. This is protected by a flap that
doesn’t appear to be as secure as the rest of the drive — it pops out easily
rather than staying tight.0 as well. When connected to a PC, we noticed that the
drives were blank. OStoGo helps in creating a Microsoft Windows installer with
your external hard drive which allows you to install the OS via USB booting
instead of DVD disk booting. One has to download a couple of apps from the ADATA
official website to get them going with their intended features. The drives run
at a core temperature of 40-degree Celsius and have an RPM of 5400.To connect
the cable to the drive, there is a bay that houses the connector. While this is
obviously overkill for a hard drive, it is reassuring to know that it can be
safe from accidental water spillage and dust.As far as real-world performance
goes, this drive is pretty fast and it should be able to transfer file dumps of
over 10GB in just under two minutes. For external hard drives in 2018, these
prices seem slightly on the steeper side.

These drives are backward compatible with USB 2.e. With this being said, we
feel that most consumers of this hard drive are not really intending on
purchasing it for its speed but more for its anti-shock and durability
features. The rubber protection is glued in place with the body and it appears
that it can withstand rough usage without peeling off easily.

This means that it can be submerged in two metres of water for as long as 60
minutes. The centre is designed using what appears to be tough black plastic
that is translucent to show the blue LED indicator when it is connected.
However, having great speeds is always advantageous. With the ADATA HD710M Pro,
the brand has chosen a brown camouflage military design which in a way indicates
that it is a robust and rugged hard disk drive.

In the absence of stringent legal barriers any brand can be labelled as
natural and organic. It’s usefull for a person with good skin, but a person who
is looking to cover blemishes and a long lasting product, it wont work, says
celebrity makeup artist Nishi Singh."At the end of the day everything we put on
our skin is absorbed into our blood stream."We can call a product organic or
chemical free only if it has a reliable certification from an authorised
certification body such as the COSMOS category in France. People have also
become a wholesale Rubber
Products lot more conscious about what they are putting on their faces or
ingesting. But is there anything such as 100% organic in terms of beauty and
skin care?

What proves the veracity of these tall claims made by organic beauty and
skin-care brands?"Nowdays people are all speaking about natural products without
understanding it. We use organic ingredients such as butter, beeswax, kaolin
clay and vegetable oils to form the base of our products, and it’s tinted with
naturally occurring ingredients such as iron oxide and mica," adds Rubeina. So
many companies use it as a marketing gimmick to sell products under label of
pure, naturaland organic. It seems that the industry has put more money into
marketing products as green rather than actually spending money on formulating
toxin-free products that are not harmful to the skin. A lot of products which
aren’t organic, brand themselves that way," says Pritesh Asher co-founder of
Juicy Chemistry, a certified organic skin-care brand from India."Makeup brands
try to package their products as light and organic but the fact is they don’t
give enough coverage to the face in terms of foundation. To get certified
organic raw materials manufacturers have to pay double and triple the price now
and not everyone may be doing that," says Rubeina Karachiwalla founder of Ruby’s
Organic’s, India’s first organic make-up brand.MT27.

Organic can be good for your food, but when it comes to skin care - what
people look for is it’s effectiveness, rather than organic or not. They don’t
question from where does a face wash get its foam or what gives an aloe vera gel
it’s green colour? I mean you cannot squeeze a lemon and put it if you need
citric acid, you have to add its chemical form" says Dr Ashwini Padmawar, a
leading dermatologist from Navi Mumbai. This facts only lay bare the hipocrisy
behind the organic beauty industry."There is no regulation to know whether the
product is truly organic. The burgeoning organic beauty and skin-care industry in
India, which is slowly removing the veneer of reliability around regular skin
care and cosmetic brands. It is therefore upon the customer to check for
independently certified products, because everything thats green is clearly not
organic. On the other hand many organic products are great for skin, but that
does not guarantee that you will not be allergic to any organic product ever,"
says Dr Apratim Goel a leading dematologist from Bandra. However even in the face
of these developments, organic beauty is certainly the future, with a growing
awareness and education around eco-friendly substances.

"The raw materials for organic beauty products are so expensive. The terms
organic, natural, chemical free, have become a common selling point for
marketers around the world. On the other hand a product automatically becomes
expensive when the word organic is attached to it and dubious brands cash in on
this loophole

Before we come to that aspect let us examine another situation wherein
gravitational force behaves strangely. With nothing to oppose its gravity the
whole mass of hot plasma will collapse and the star would shrink to a point. The
law of gravity as enunciated by Newton says that there is a force of attraction
between any two bodies in the universe. As its outer envelope is cooler the star
has a reddish appearance.

Thus, we have a large star which is cooler at its outer boundary but hotter
at the centre of its core. Normally in a star like the Sun, two internal forces
are at play. Having grown large in size because of expansion the star is called
a giant. What happens to star B Recall that it receives energy from star A which
results in the strengthening of its thermal forces. But now imagine that you are
connecting two stars A and B of which A is considerably hotter than B.The
collapse process leads to a stronger and stronger force of gravity near the
surface of the star, so much so that eventually its strong gravity will pull
back even light. This feature makes gravitation stand apart from other forces in
nature, which, like the elastic force disappear once their demands are met. The
mantle receives that heat which makes it expand., an imaginary experiment. The
force of gravity tends to highlight the force of attraction between its
different parts with the result that the star as a whole tends to contract. So
it contracts and goes on doing so and in the process its internal temperature
rises. The star is, however, able to maintain a fixed size because the
gravitational force is balanced by a thermal force arising from the fact that
the star is made of hot plasma. To understand the full implications of this
statement we will compare it with another force which is familiar to us in daily
life, viz, the elastic force which arises when we use a rubber band. Imagine our
Sun suddenly losing all its pressures.

This process will go on till both bodies have the same temperature. As before
heat will flow out of the hotter star A to B. The conditions of equilibrium have
to accommodate this reality. As we saw with the rubber band, it tends to
contract when stretched, but this force of contraction disappears as soon as the
band is allowed to shrink to its natural length. In reality, we may have such a
situation with a somewhat different scenario when a star becomes a red giant,
The interior of such a star has a hot core surrounded by a cooler mantle. In our
thought experiment, this exact balance is upset. As expansion of a gas or plasma
leads to its cooling, the envelope cools down. This in turn raises the thermal
(gravity opposing) forces and in the ensuing readjustment the star’s temperature
rises. He was Cambridge University’s Senior Wrangler in Maths in 1959. What will
happen Heat energy will flow from the hot body to a cold body with the result
that the hot body will become cooler and the cold body hotter.

Is this not like Newton’s gravitation which also causes the two bodies to
attract each other This may appear to be the case, but in reality, there is a
world of difference between the two cases.e. The physicist Hermann Bondi called
this tendency of gravitation "dictatorial". Suppose you connect a hot body to a
cold one by a heat conducting wire.Tie up two bodies to the ends of a rubber
band and stretch it. Since star A has lost heat, it finds its interior deficient
in strength, especially in balancing gravity. Not so with gravitation! If we
yield to it and allow the two bodies to approach each other, the force does not
disappear.

The force is in direct proportion to the masses of these bodies and in
inverse proportion to the distance separating them. Because A has lost energy,
its internal equilibrium is upset. Because by expansion, hot gas and plasma cool
down, the overall temperature of the colder star B will be lowered by our
thought experiment. Hence the name "red giant". The two bodies that were tied to
its ends will therefore feel a force of attraction because of the band’s
tendency to shrink. We will look at some by way of illustration. The writer, a
renowned astrophysicist, is professor emeritus at Inter-University Centre for
Astronomy and Astrophysics, Pune University Campus. For the journey from the
falling apple has led to several strange consequences, like black holes. As we
will see, this dictatorial tendency leads to the formation of black holes. The
role of thermal pressures in maintaining stellar equilibrium cannot be
overstated. If you give in to the demands of a dictator, he makes further
demands. Rather, because of the inverse square law, it gets stronger. When the
falling apple supposedly inspired Isaac Newton to discover the law of gravity,
he did not imagine that he had opened a Pandora’s box.So what is the bottomline
The experiment results in the hot star getting hotter and the cool star getting
cooler! This counter-intuitive result arises because gravity is at play. This
results in an expansion of the second star. How long will it take to shrink to a
point A mere 29 minutes! Not our Sun, but more massive stars may find themselves
at such a stage when they have exhausted their nuclear fuel.

In a sense, a black hole is the outcome of unrestricted contraction induced
by gravity. With no resistance to their own gravity such stars would undergo
rapid gravitational collapse. The natural tendency of the rubber band is to
contract to its natural original unstretched size. So what happens The core o-ring
Manufacturers emits heat and contracts but this process raises its
temperature. Thus, as its demands (to attain its natural length) are met, the
force disappears. This involves, what scientists call a thought experiment, i..
That is when we say that the star has become a black hole

The market for the attention of a prospective customer is big. Large
corporations like Salesforce, Adobe, Oracle and numerous startups are in the
fray to help businesses target and re-target its customers to buy product and
services many times over. Through a combination of catalogue inputs and
user-tracking, Dynamic Product Messaging can send the most relevant product
recommendations to users. With the introduction of Dynamic Product Messaging,
MoEngage has managed to achieve for Push Notifications and Emails, what Facebook
and wholesale auto
rubber Google have done for dynamic ads. Products can be shown in single or
multi-product creatives.

This solution is based on the platform’s proprietary Sherpa Interaction
Graph, which maps each user’s behaviour with the products/content from the
catalogue and powers these product recommendations.Facebook and Google are
veterans in the dynamic ads space and are quite popular among marketers who want
to target users looking for a specific product. DPM can be customized for use
throughout the customer journey, from the discovery of products to the
abandonment of shopping carts and continued engagement to drive repeat
purchases.

The Product has so far been an invitation-only pilot with MoEngage customers
across South-East Asia, India and Middle-East regions including Tokopedia, Oyo
Rooms and Sivvi.Marketers can set up a regular sync of their product catalogue
to build the Sherpa Interaction Graph with real-time pricing/availability
information and create campaigns targeting specific products to specific
audiences, or let MoEngage automatically deliver the most relevant products to
customers.MoEngage, which already has a suite of products for customer
engagement has launched Dynamic Product Messaging (DPM), a solution designed to
help businesses communicate relevant products from their catalogue based on a
user's browsing history through push notifications and emails. They have seen
at-least 2X improvement in conversions with DPM powered communications.

The use cases extend beyond products to content recommendations, price drop
alerts, etc. Since these businesses sell a lot of products, they need the
automation and intelligence tools to communicate relevant products to the right
people. At the same time considering the ever-increasing volume of emails and
push notifications delivered to customer’s mobile, it’s important for consumer
businesses to stand out with hyper-personalized content tailored to preferences
and tastes
